P.S. Hi Dawn and Pat - yep, Niffy is doing really well. He is under my feet nearly constantly, but I don't mind - I just hate it when I step on him!! I am trying to take him out as much as possible for these first few days so he can slowly settle in to the routine around here. When I work, it is hard on him cause I can't give him all my attention! We are best buddies and I just love it! He and Tory are getting along pretty well. Tory is not yet into changing her lifestyle but you can see where she is interested in what Niffy does and she seems to respond a bit to that. Last night she wanted him to play but he was interested in the cats so that didn't work but I'm sure they will do great. He doesn't want to be away from where he can see me or at least be where he can get to me yet. I'm sure this will change a bit the longer he is here. We have a wire run hooked up for him and one for Tory till we can do the fence thing. But, when I put him on it he just wants to go where I go and if that is in the house, he wants in too! I put him on it a little each day to get him use to it and eventually, he should come around to it.
He IS going up the stairs and down the stairs real well, took him a couple of times in and out of the trailer to get that down. And, I am going to try to teach him to ring some jingle bells tied to our door when he wants to go out. If that works, then when I get involved with my work and forget to check on him I will at least know when it is time to go out!!
This morning he was trying to eat some grass - is this a clue of something I should look out for? Is this telling me he doesn't feel right? His little nose is still moist and cool, but I thought I should ask anyway. Also, he wants to scratch in one spot a lot - is this his dry skin? Is there something, besides diet, that I should do for him?
You guys, I just love him!! He makes me smile just looking at him!! We think we should keep him in his crate a night for a while and he sure does not like that!! I hate to do it, but he eventually gets quiet and stays quiet all night! He is just the BEST - thank you, thank you, thank you for this little bundle of joy!!
More later!
Sharon
