Announcing the Earlymoon C Litter.... we have kept our plans quiet until now because who knew what would happen?  The sire lives in Scotland and we had no way of knowing whether our "risk" of bringing semen in would work out.  Molly was due at the end of April, and on the 26th, she presented us with 7 beautiful babies!  Molly is the mother of our Earlymoon "B" litter.  She is linebred on CH Olive van de Hoge Laer, who was not only a great producer herself, but came from a producing litter - her full siblings have made records in Sweden and England, and are found behind some of the top winning dogs on the continent as well.  Molly is from a rarely bred female linebreeding, which is one of the reasons we chose to get her.   Bred in Finland, she is strong in the CH Grimm van de Hoge Laer lines, and within a few generations her pedigree consists of Belgian bred dogs.  There are a lot of dogs behind her with both conformation and working titles, mainly in tracking.  Bentley is sired by the beautiful CH Lance van de Hoge Laer, who is linebred on CH Grimm van de Hoge Laer.  Bentley's mother was a grey Tervuren, and out of two greys.   She goes back to some old French lines, old American lines, and some old Belgian lines, including Dundee of the Two, sister to CH Beggy of the Two (Grimm's mother).  Bentley is highly intelligent, and those who have personally met him say they loved his personality.   Bentley also has one son, who is young yet, but still very pretty, and he has already done well at the shows.  Bentley was Best of Opposite sex at one of the Specialties in the UK, and Best Veteran at Crufts when he was 8 years old.  He is also the winner of 1 CC and 3 RCC's, and two of his RCC wins were at the time all four BSD varieties were competing in the ring together.   He was chosen both for his older Belgian lines, and the old lines behind his mother as well.  It isn't a pedigree found behind a lot of dogs in the US (that is one of the reasons why I chose him), and yet he has strong type, a short back, good topline, and neck, and nice chest.  He and Molly should produce puppies with high intelligence and good personalities, beautiful silhouettes, pretty heads, and decent movement with good angulation.  The puppies should have sound Belgian type.  It also appealed to me that this dog was older when the match was made.   Molly is a smaller bitch at 22.5 inches to the shoulder, and Bentley is a medium sized male at 25 inches to the shoulder.  We expect the litter to land somewhere in that range.  We expect excellent masking, sweet expressions and TONS of neck on these puppies, with strong toplines and a good amount of body.  These puppies should excel in the AKC show ring, or in any performance events.

This boy is one of our darkest pups and weighs in at 15 1/2 oz.  He has a small spot of white on his chest, and one white toe.  In the second picture, you can see the lovely color in this litter. This is one of our darker boys, and he has no white - not on his toes, chest, or chin.  He is a pretty little guy.  On day 1, he weighed in at 14 3/4 oz, making him our smallest boy, but still bigger than any of the girls! This is our boy with the reverse stripe.    It is difficult to see in the pictures, and I don't think it will be as distinct as his half-sister Lana's.  He weighed in at 15 1/2 oz. This is our "Golden Boy".  He is the lightest colored of all of the puppies, and you could see that even through the sack he was born in.  He has a sheild shaped white spot on his chest.  He is our true Lion King, weighing in at 15 3/4,  our biggest puppy.

This is the darkest girl.  She weighes 14 1/4 oz on day 1, she has no white on her chest, but she does have a tiny spot of white on one back toe.    She has lovely color that is hard to show off in a picture.
We lost this little girl.
This is the medium colored girl.  She weighes 14 oz on day 1, and she has the tiniest spot of white on her chest and tiny bits of white on 4 back toes.  This little one reminds me a lot of her mother. This is the lightest girl.  She has pretty extreme dark points and she is also the lightest in weight at 13 1/2 oz on day 1.  She has no white on her chest, but she does have a little white on some of her back toes.

We call this boy "Carmel".    He is the second boy listed above.   He has no white - no toe tips, chin, nor spot on his chest.  He has a beautiful color, which is how the poor fella got stuck with that baby name! This boy's baby name is Corgano.  I liked the way that sounded, so I looked it up on google, and as it turns out, it was a name used in Star Trek for a Moon god.  Gee, since we are EarlyMOON, and he has a crescent moon on his chest, that makes it PERFECT! This is the Lion King.  So apt, with his striking coloring and the huge amount of bone that he has.  Like a great male lion he spents a lot of his time sleeping and being the mellowest puppy of the lot.

This puppy has been dubbed Stripe, for the inspiring reason that he has a stripe up his nose.   Not inventive, but easy to remember, atleast!  As you can see, he is already distintive in his own character, and I think he will be one of those dogs that just sort of owns people's attention.  He'll demand it! This is Idril.  The smallest puppy, but she doesn't let THAT stop her!  She always fights for the biggest nipple, and she gets ticked when she doesn't get her way.  She likes to cuddle, and she also likes fingers <G>. This is Chenoa.  She has beautiful color and you can already see the body she is going to have, and the bone.  She has one tiny white spot on her chest which will be gone by the time she is a grown up girl.  When I placed her on the towel, she said "Yawn! Nice place to sleep, so I'll just stretch out for a while then."

Below are the picture of the puppies at an age where they are getting a bit more interesting.   They are walking and standing and thinking about the world around them.  Life seems pretty good right now, and if for some reason it isn't, you just howl and get some attention.

This is Corgano, the fattest boy.  He is good at looking sad. This is the Lion King - noted first for his color, and then for his laid back attitude of "Women, bring me the food, it's my place to survey my territory!" This is Stripey... and imaginative name for a little ridge of hair up his nose.  Stripe is the sweetest pup in the litter with kisses always ready for whoever picks him up.

Moving on closer to 8 weeks... here are the REAL silhouette and head shots!!!

This is Carl - formerly Carmel.    He is an elegant young fellow with a lovely outgoing temperament. This is Corgano and he is my tail wagger.  He has a face that could melt the hardest heart, and he is fully prepared to be a "mama's boy". This is Idril, my little lady.  I LOVE the angulation I am seeing on her so far.  She is all sweetness with just a bit of spice.

This is Stripy, my cuddle-bug.  He has a lovely earset, tons of coat, and a nice amoung of body. This is the Lion King.   He is the biggest puppy, sometimes being the most mellow on of the lot, other times the most outgoing.  He has nice structure coming in and pretty little ears.   Plus he has a ton of body. This is Chenoa.   Chenoa is being awfully slow about getting her ears up, but she has a lot of appeal as she is a lovely young lady.  She is going to be a very elegant girl when she grows up.
