About Colored Schipperkes:

There has been a recent tendency for some Backyard breeders and Puppy Mills to intentionally breed colored schipperkes.  They will tell you that these schips are "rare"; and a pet shop worker was recently overheard telling a customer that these "rare" schipperkes are very, very valuable.  They said that if you showed one of these dogs you would be sure to win just because they were so "rare".

Well, it's time for the truth.
Any color but black in a Schipperke is a severe FAULT, and were you to show one you would be disqualified before your dog was even judged against the others.  Moreover, I have been looking at several websites lately promoting these "rare" dogs and I have yet to see one schipperke that is of BREEDING quality - even if they were black.   The colored Schipperke is a trait that reputable breeders have been trying to breed OUT of their program, and if you are curious to know why, please read the history of this breed.   So if you find a breeder who is intentionally breeding for colored schips, please understand that you are not dealing with a reputable breeder and would be advised to look elsewhere for your pet.
