Vasha's best feature is her wonderful movement, but she also has a lovely,
well shaped ear and ear set, square body, full dentition and scissors bite and a nice
silhouette. She took Group 2 at her only match, 1st of 4 in the 6-9 month class at
the Illiana Specialty '97, and followed her mother's footsteps by winning three majors on
the way to her championship. At the '99 National, she was one of eight bitches
(out of fifteen) to make the pull in her class, even though she was misbehaving
(that's the story of Vasha's life!)
Vasha took one agility class while she was campaigning for her championship, in
which she did extremely well - unfortunately, she thought it was much more fun than
conformation, so she decided to liven things up in her next show. I had to
tell her that as soon as she finished she would be an agility dog again. So, after
Vasha finished her championship, we were off to the classes once more!
We have competed a couple of times, our first time at the UKC
Premiere Show, and we did extremely well! (OK, so Vasha did better than me
<G>). We scored a 198 out of 200, in about 48 seconds, and we were awarded
fourth in our class.
Vasha also followed in her mother's footsteps by attaining her TT (temperament test), and
her CGC (Canine Good Citizen). She acted her usual crazy self for both,
entertaining the whole crowd.
As a side note, I love the sound of words and meanings, so usually there is a reason for
each of my dog's names. Vasha was a single puppy litter, and when my Mother drove 3
hours to attend the birth she said "All this FANFARE for one puppy."
Thus Vasha was named Kurakuma's Fanfare. As for her call name, Vasha, I took
a class in Russian in college. Vasha is the feminine version of "yours" in
Russian, and I have always loved the sound of it. We do get a lot of comments on
this name, and it is probably my favorite one..
Vasha had one
little girl, that we lost, named Flower
She has one son now, who is growing up... so far... so beautiful! His name is Kash.
